The Prescott Hill Climb

Wednesday 31st July 2002

In the middle of our week long celebrations, we visit the home of the Bugatti Owners Club and the famous Prescott Hill, set in the glorious Cotswolds just north of Cheltenham.

The historic setting is perfect. The hillclimb course is a driver's dream on smooth tarmac winding its way gently up the side of the hill over a distance of 1130 yards (1040 metres). From Ettore's field, just above the attractive sloping paddock, spectators can view most of the twisting course, including the infamous Pardon Hairpin. Or you can follow the pathways alongside the track - watch the cars tackling the Esses and test your skills at some action photography.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day and lunch will be provided for ticket holders at the Prescott Lodge restaurant just above the Paddock.

Cars will ascend the Hill at 30 second intervals from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm with an hour lunch break to enable the official Prescott marshals to have a well deserved rest. We aim to have up to 300 cars ascending the Hill twice during the day. 'Time windows' will be allocated to each car to overcome long queues. All cars must be road going. This event is classified as a 'Cavalcade' and there will be no official timing. No competition. No crash helmets. Drivers may carry a passenger.

During the day, a visit to the Bugatti Trust & Museum, close to the Start Line, will be a fascinating experience.

As we have to limit the number of cars for the actual hillclimbs, it is suggested that you apply for the Day Ticket in the Booking Form as soon as possible. (If you are booking the week long Warwick Ticket, then you are already included for the entry and ascents of the Hill). The Day Ticket is at a modest cost for the thrills and enjoyment you will experience on what we hope will be a memorable day.
